Remnant
Remnant is a sans serif modular font. Its shapes are taken from the fossilised bones that were left behind by the dinosaurs. Each letter is designed to look like the pieces fit in perfectly, almost as if they were found that way when excavated.
I created a type specimen to showcase my font. The mockup helped give me an idea as to what it would look like for me to then create my hardcover book. I used the French Link Stitch technique which tied into the bone theme of my alphabet.
Taking my project further, I created a set of EXCAVATE scratch cards. The idea was you had to dig in the card to reveal the boney letterform, mirroring the process that palaeontologists go through when excavating fossils.
